I've been practicing to draw felines a lot for a few months, finally gave result; for more than a two years when drawing a feline had the same shape of the face as a canine, except that the nose was small and had whiskers. Is typical of all animal artists (From what I've experienced from my own experience), but over time they will give results or stylize more their way of drawing them, the truth is that it's a decision of oneself.
